The history of the house

A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE CAN MEET

During the late 17th century a bakery opened on the downstairs floor. It remained all the way to the 1980's when it was replaced by a frame workshop. In the year 2007 the whole property was renovated to apartments and in 2015 the present owners bought the business with the plan to make it in to the Bed & Breakfast it is today. Some of the apartments was left and today they complement the business to meet the ever growing demands of good lodging in Visby City Center.

- FROM EXECUTIONER'S HOUSE TO BAKERY -

This house comes with a long history that runs many centuries back. In 1676 the house was already one of the larger properties, with both the main house and the cottage, as well as the cabbage garden. The house has gone by many names, and one of them tells the story of how the town's executioner lived here.  During the late 16th century and mid 17th century several buildings were added, making the property the largest in the neighbourhood.
